Artist in Residence Amami Oshima
We are conducting an art residency on the southern island of Japan, "Amami Oshima,"and are recruiting artists from around the world.Would you like to create art during your stay on this sacred Japanese remote island?
Amami Oshima (Kagoshima Prefecture) was registered as a UNESCO World Natural Heritage site in 2021, and even today, untouched nature remains, along with a culture of shamanism, nature worship, and traditions of prayer that have continued since the Ryukyu Kingdom era.
Once, Amami Oshima was a place where the Ryukyu Dynasty era existed, a place where Ryukyu culture and Satsuma culture intersected. "Stayable Art Museum Ryukyu Villa" is an art villa that incorporates the architectural techniques of the Ryukyu Dynasty era into modern architecture.
