The garden dyed by light - Le jardin teinté par la lumière
2025 | Mixed media on canvas
A painting created by the artist during a two-week stay at the Ryukyu Villa Sōtetsu. The surface is embedded with the leaves of the Sōtetsu that grow on the grounds of the Ryukyu Villa. Since a buyer was decided upon the completion of the work, the exhibition at the Ryukyu Villa was not realized.
I wanted to breathe life into Amami Oshima
So I started by going to the beach to collect coral and sand
The dried Sōtetsu leaves are fleeting yet dignified
When I touched them, they fit naturally in my hand
The crushed coral stood out in its whiteness
And the smooth sand, when mixed with blue paint, looked as if it swam like a fish
Every day, as I faced the canvas while listening to the conversations of the wind and birds
It invited me into a feeling as if I were in a fairy tale
And occasionally, when I looked up at the sky
I could find a peaceful scenery that seemed to shimmer like beautiful fabric woven by the sound of the waves
People born on this island
People who have arrived at this island
The people I meet here
Seemed to be wrapped in the winds and light I encountered
This work is a gratitude for everything born from the weaving of all
Of Amami Oshima

From Shizuoka Prefecture. Residing in Paris.
As a child, I learned how to hold a brush under the guidance of my aunt, who was a calligraphy teacher, and was given opportunities to engage with painting and artistic works. My works have become part of major collections in various countries, including Japan, France, Italy, Germany, and the United States. In November 2018, my solo exhibition at the BVLGARI flagship store in Madrid was featured in the magazine Madame Figaro and became a topic of conversation, with many celebrities and former ministers attending the reception party, making it a great success. Since September 2019, my works have been displayed as a private collection in the salon and sales area of the LOUIS VUITTON store in Takashimaya, Osaka.
